The Kalamata olive is a large black or brown olive with a smooth, meaty texture named after the city of Kalamata in the southern Peloponnese, Greece. As table olives, we allow the natural flavour of the olive to shine through by storing them in a light brine.
They are one of the healthiest foods on earth because they are high in sodium, rich in healthy fats and contain a natural antioxidant, contain a range of health-promoting vitamins and minerals, and are particularly high in iron and vitamin A.
